Experiencing History: Reliving the End of the Civil War, Moment by Moment: 4/7 part 1

02Regardless of what uniform you woke up wearing today, one thing is certain — you’re tired.

The Union is flying high, and even more determined than ever, after the fall of Richmond just days earlier. The Union papers boast of a great victory while the Confederacy nervously awaits the repercussions.

On the run, Lee’s army crosses the Appomattox River after refilling their rations at Farmville. With some food in their bellies, they continue to contend with the pursuing army, both tossing shell back and forth at each other.

The end of the war seems to be close at hand, and yet the next hour seems so very far away…

  1. There’s my share, and you know I follow your blog EXTREMELY closely! LOL I love all of your Civil War posts, fascinating stuff! We have two big battlefield sites here in Arkansas, Prairie Grove and Pea Ridge. I’ve visited both but it’s been years, so I’m planning another trip soon to get my Civil War geek on!

Thanks for the email address. I’ve been wondering who that follower was. Lol I have it written down now, so you won’t have to share it again.
